We are seeking a high-level accounting professional with 7+ years of experience in Job Costing, Work in Progress (WIP), and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analysis to support financial management in a growing project-based organization.
This role plays a critical part in tracking project profitability, maintaining accurate WIP schedules, and ensuring financial reporting reflects the true status of ongoing projects.
The ideal candidate will combine strong accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, expert QuickBooks Online experience, and familiarity with Simpro, and will work closely with operations, project managers, and field teams to ensure project costs are accurately captured, analyzed, and reported.
This position reports directly to the Controller and supports leadership with project financial insights and cost control reporting.
A hands-on accounting professional who takes ownership of job costing, WIP reporting, and project financial performance.
Comfortable working with project managers, installers, technicians, and operations leaders to ensure labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and expenses are properly recorded and monitored.
Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify cost variances and provide meaningful financial insights on project margins.
An advanced Excel user capable of building and maintaining WIP schedules, project cost analysis tools, and financial reporting models.
An expert user of QuickBooks Online with recent hands-on experience managing job costing and project financial reporting.
Experience with Simpro or similar field-service management systems used to track jobs, materials, and operational project activity.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong accuracy and meeting deadlines
A strong team player with excellent communication and presentation skills, able to clearly present financial information to both accounting leadership and operational teams.
Comfortable working in a growing company where systems and financial processes continue to evolve.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration or Finance
Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience
At least 5 years of experience in job costing or project-based accounting
Recent accounting experience within the last 2 years is required
Demonstrated experience with Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and project cost analysis
Expert-level experience with QuickBooks Online
Experience working with Simpro or similar job/project management systems preferred
Strong advanced Excel skills

Key Responsibilities
Review and classify all credit card transactions to ensure expenses are properly allocated to the correct job, project, or cost category.
Reconcile project-related purchases and ensure all project costs are captured accurately
Maintain and manage job costing details and summaries across approximately 250 active projects
Prepare and reconcile Work in Progress (WIP) schedules
Track and analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) including labor, materials and subcontractors
Work closely with project managers to monitor job budgets, cost overruns, and project profitability
Support revenue recognition based on project completion
Build and maintain Excel-based financial reports for job performance and WIP analysis
Support the monthly close process with WIP adjustments and project financial reporting
Collaborate with operations teams to improve financial visibility across projects
Present financial insights and project performance updates to management and operational teams
Assist the Controller with job cost analysis, financial planning or any other project or accounting report requested by leadership.

Job cost and WIP reporting models
Recent hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online for project or job-cost-based businesses is required.
Our organization manages approximately 250 active projects at any given time, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to monitor financial performance across multiple projects simultaneously.
This role works closely with operations leadership, project managers, and field teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial reporting.
Due to the operational demands of project-based work, this position typically requires approximately 45–50 hours per week to effectively support reporting cycles, cost analysis, and monthly close responsibilities.
A 30 minutes Saturday meeting is required to review project performance, discuss job cost variances, and align financial reporting with operational updates. Participation in these meetings is expected as part of the role.
This position is a full-time salaried role. Work schedules may vary based on project volume, reporting deadlines, and operational needs.
Recent experience in job costing and WIP accounting is required

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks and professional reference verification in accordance with applicable laws.
Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per year
5 Days of PTO after 90 Days
Company offers health insurance.
Compensation will depend on years of experience and industry knowledge, particularly experience supporting construction, low voltage, or field-service organizations.
Qualified candidates will be required to complete a technical assessment involving Work in Progress (WIP) analysis and advanced Excel exercises as part of the interview process.
